Introduction to Public Speaking
What do you want your students to learn in your classes?
I want students to feel empowered with their communication skills relevant to every aspect of life: at home, in their career and as a global citizen.
Why did you start teaching?
I lined up my dolls when I was four and started teaching! I always had a propensity to help instruct others. Leadership starts early and passion for what you love grows over time.
What's the best advice that you could give your students?
Find what you love and pursue your passion! Invest yourself in something greater than yourself! Take group photos vs. selfies!
What qualities make someone particularly successful in communications?
Develop interpersonal skills and hone in on your ability to speak face-to-face with others. Become passionate about the success of others more than yourself! Seek truth. Find ways to apply and impart truth.
What do you think is the biggest challenge that people in the profession face today?
We face the challenge of reinventing ourselves as professionals to a culture that has changed means of communication, expression, connectivity, care and engagement.
What is the one book you think everyone should read?
The Bible. It's the greatest book of wisdom, truth, insight and life lessons. It's also a reliable source of encouragement and guidance!
Tell us something interesting about yourself that your students may not know about you.
I lived in Israel three times, speak conversational Hebrew, traveled across four continents and 17 countries. Travel and being actively engaged is the best type of high-impact learning environment that you can do for yourself!
