Discover the innovative spirit that distinguishes UTPB on campus and online.
The University of Texas Permian Basin (UTPB) is part of the respected University of Texas System, but is recognized as an innovator in its own right for championing student success through affordable tuition, online college courses and creative partnerships with other academic institutions, corporations and industries. Located on the iconic plains of Odessa, Texas, UTPB offers 42 bachelor programs and 35 master programs through the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Business & Engineering, and the College of Education.
Our commitment to excellence is fostered by an outstanding faculty and staff. Through their academic stewardship, UTPB's College of Business & Engineering is one of the select business programs in the nation (and the only one in the Permian Basin) to be accredited by the prestigious Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business–a distinction that has been bestowed on only five percent of the world's business programs. And UTPB's College of Education is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education, the Educational Leadership Constituent Council, and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
The University of Texas Permian Basin is celebrating four and a half decades of educational excellence. As the only four-year higher education institute in the Permian Basin, we are proud of our home in Odessa and of our region's impact on the world.
Our origins are humble. When our doors opened in 1973, we were only a two-year, upper level university open to juniors and seniors. Trailers and temporary buildings lined the campus, and permanent student housing didn't exist. Through the years our humble origins have grown into the opportunity to leave a lasting legacy in our community through education.
The 45th anniversary of The University of Texas Permian Basin is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate together through festivities for the community, alumni, friends and supporters.
As a leader in online education, UTPB is removing the geographic, time and financial barriers that often prevent students from achieving their education goals. Today, students can earn a bachelor's degree online in several disciplines—including business administration, communications, psychology and sociology. And through our online master's programs, students can earn business or education graduate degrees. More UTPB Online Programs.
